What is the best blender?
Is it Vitamix, Blendtec or HealthMaster?

Vitamix 5200

Best Blender

The best blender does just about everything, and a little bit more! Blenders are multifunctional appliances you find in any kitchen mostly used to create shakes, smoothies, dips, soups and dressings. The best blenders, however, are so powerful that they can even whip up fresh peanut butter! To determine the best blender, there are a number of things to consider first. To provide your family the best and healthiest, great tasting meals and drinks they deserve - you need a juicer, a mixer, a food processor and a professional commercial-type blender. These vital kitchen appliances can cost you well over $1,500.00. But by having the best blender in your kitchen you eliminate the need as well as the cost for all of these appliances.

Review Your Needs

What will you use this blender for? The answer to this question will lead you to buying the kind of blender which will serve you with numerous purposes. For instance, if you regularly use hard frozen fruit and ice cubes, you will need a blender that can handle this process properly.

Blender Power

The more watts your blender comes with, the more powerful it will be. The advantage of more blender power is that your vegetable and fruit drinks will turn out smoother and creamier. It will turn your peanuts into fresh peanut butter, or ice cubes into frozen drinks.

Blender Speed

The speed is not as important as the power. Having a 10 speed blender is not all that necessary. Most blending jobs can be done with a pulse option and three speeds.

Blender Blades

Blender blades come in two forms. They are either detachable or integrated into the unit. It is easier to clean detachable blender blades, especially when you make thick sauces. However, with detachable blades there are higher chances of wear and tear and leaks. The high-end blenders generally come with integrated blades. You will find blender blades in different widths, length and shapes. These blades come in two, four and six pronged.

Blender Carafe

The blender carafe needs to let the food or liquid drip down to the blades. Blender carafes are made of stainless steel, polycarbonate and glass. Some carafes are dishwasher safe, break resistant and scratch resistant. The glass carafes are heavier than the polycarbonate carafes, but are more likely to be scratch resistant. Stainless steel blender carafes are sleek and will not break. However, you cannot see anything inside. Some carafes are wider than others. When regularly blending food, it is better to have a wider blender carafe.

Blender Carafe Capacity

Most carafes range from 40 to 64 oz, which means 1.2 to 1.9 liters. Whenever possible it is better to invest in a blender with larger carafe capacity. This will ensure that your blender does not overflow at any point. You can determine this on the size of portion, family and lifestyle, such as preparing meals for the whole weekend, entertaining friends or making baby food.

Blender Pulse

A pulse button on a blender means that it can prevent over processing or over mixing of food. This is especially useful when it comes to crushing ice. A blender pulse provides better individual control of the unit.

Blender Design

Most kitchen appliances are meant to be kept on the kitchen counter, so you can buy a blender to keep on the kitchen counter top. However, while aesthetics play a role when it comes to the design of the blender, it is important to remember that you cannot use what you don't need. Some blenders are tall, and will not fit the standard cabinet.

Blender Type

You can find three types of blender categories namely the home blender, commercial blender and professional blender. The professional blender is mostly for frequent use and home use. Some professional blenders are used for mixing drinks. The commercial blender is certified for commercial use.

Blender Warranty

The warranty period on a blender varies from one year and goes up to seven years. The professional blenders offer longer warranties.

A blender will make your cooking experience more enriching. You can make as many fresh drinks and shakes as often as you like. The blender lets you mix ingredients together and create incredible dips, drinks, soups, sauces and dressings. Some blenders can even make fresh powdery flour with whole wheat grains.

The best blender will save you money, time and space. You can save time with the best blender by easily mixing and chopping food for your next meal, whether it is a healthy drink or meal. You can save money with the best blender by drinking and eating healthier, instead of opting to buy fast food. The best blender can also save you space by being a one in all kitchen appliance.

When it comes to power, performance and versatility blenders such as Vitamix, Blendtec, and HealthMaster are what I call Super Blenders.

These super blenders are the ultimate appliance. Standard blenders, juicers and even food processors leave the skins, pulp and all the best parts of natures healthy ingredients behind. But today's new super blenders will literally transform whole fruits and vegetables into 100% liquid nutrition, retaining all of the vital and important vitamins, minerals, fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants which will keep your whole family strong and healthy and can help you lose weight and feel great! Owners as well as professional reviewers conclude that the Vita-Mix 5200 is the best blender if you want a blender that goes well beyond making smoothies and cooking soup. Vitamix's fiercest competitor is the Blendtec Total Blender (*Est. $400), which is also a good choice, with the differences mostly being a user's preference of features. Please note that if you are looking for a Vita Mixer, there is no such animal as many people mistakenly call the Vitamix a Vita Mixer. Others think that it is two words, Vita Mix or Vita-Mix.

The main difference that can be seen between the Vitamix and the Blendtec are quite impressive on the side of Vitamix as it has a longer warranty (7 years). Vitamix has also been around much, much longer, well over 80 years. Their guarantee reads as follows: Vitamix guarantees the Vitamix 5200 will run trouble-free for a Full 7 YEARS or they will fix it for FREE! This guarantee is far beyond the scope of the typical kitchen appliance warranty that merely covers defects in workmanship, Vitamix guarantees that your Vitamix machine will perform like new for a full seven years from the date of purchase--or they will fix or repair it for FREE. Vitamix's customer service is unparalleled. The Vita-Mix 5200 has a powerful 2-horsepower (1,380 watt) motor, and Vitamix users say its blades spin so fast (approximately 240 mph) you can make hot soup in it in under 5 minutes. It's also powerful enough to make perfectly blended cheese fondues and to grind grains into flour. Reviewers also seem to like its large BPA free 64-ounce carafes. Some say the drawbacks are the price, carafe size, and noise, which at high speed has been compared to that of a jet engine. I personally own the Vitamix 5200 and I couldn't disagree more...

As far as price comparison between the Vitamix and the Blentec they are comparatively priced with the difference being approximately fifty bucks. And as for the noise, I think comparing it to that of a jet engine is a bit much. When it comes to the size of the carafe, yes it is high and unless you separate it from the base it will not fit under most cabinets, but I prefer the large capacity of a half gallon carafe.

What About The HealthMaster?

If you are on a really tight budget rather than have nothing you might consider the HealthMaster. The HealthMaster is the one that is endorsed by Montel Williams on TV. In my opinion you get what you pay for and my money is on the Vitamix or the Blendtec. My personal preference is the Vitamix 5200.

I discovered the best feedback for the Vita-Mix 5200 at Cook's Illustrated magazine and, where reviewers test a variety of blender models and report on performance as well as ease of use. If you go to, you'll see that Vita-Mix 5200 owners weigh in heavy on warranty service and long-term durability as well as performance.
